Description: Camp Ein Gedi is located 10 minutes north of Barrie on a beautiful 40 acre lot nestled on Lake Simcoe. Surrounded by trees and wooded areas, Ein Gedi campers will have a chance to interact with Mother Nature as they go on nature hikes and explore natural paths and trails. Our campgrounds are very spacious with plenty of room to run around and engage in all sorts of activities. All cabins are within a short walking distance of one another and rainy day facilities are available throughout the camp. Additionally, all our cabins are winterized and heated in case of inclement weather or cold nights. A staff-to-child ratio of 1:5 ensures that all our campers will be looked after and cared for with great attention. A maximum of 80 campers per session means more time spent focusing on games, activities and safety with special consideration given to individual campers’ needs.
All of Camp Ein Gedi’s staff undergoes a strict safety-training program in order to guarantee a secure and protected campground. Our staff will be knowledgeable in several different areas of safety, and will be able to deal with any scenario that may present itself. As well, a full-time licensed nurse will be on the premises to aid in any situation involving campers or staff. Water safety is a concern as well and as such, several of our staff members will be fully trained and certified lifeguards. Any time in which children are playing near or on the waterfront, there will be staff on hand to supervise. Furthermore, special instructors will be invited to teach children proper swimming methods and to demonstrate how to administer CPR and first-aid. Special instructors are a large part of what Camp Ein Gedi stands for. We believe that Camp should be fun and educational, and as such we strive to introduce our campers to new horizons and opportunities. Besides our Specialized Swim Staff, Ein Gedi also offers structured instructional activities such as Canoeing, Kayaking, Sailing and Windsurfing. Campers will be able to learn new skills as well as work to achieve recognized standards in certain activities. (Standards set by Ontario Sailing Association, Ontario Camping Association, Red Cross and Royal Lifesaving, etc…)
Camp Ein Gedi works closely with the KLIM School of Art in Toronto, and as such is pleased to offer specialized Art instructors courtesy of KLIM. These specialized instructors will be visiting the camp on a regular basis and teaching children the fundamentals of painting, shading, clay work and other artistic mediums. Our campers’ health is important to us, which is why we are proud to offer so many recreational activities throughout the camp. In addition to our dedication to keeping children active, we also believe in teaching them about nutrition as well. All of Camp Ein Gedi’s cabins are equipped with a small kitchen, complete with refrigerator, stove, microwave, oven and an array of kitchen utensils. All our food is Kosher and is prepared by L’Echaim Catering on the premises in our two large kitchens. All cooking and cleaning duties will be done by kitchen staff and all food will be inspected and approved by a Rabbi. An evening snack will also be provided for campers after dinner.
Water is readily available throughout the camp site and counselors will be teaching children the importance of drinking lots of water, particularly on hot days. Our water is government approved safe to drink, and will be continuously tested during the summer. |
