Description: Viva España! With this unique program, participants will focus on learning the Spanish language and culture, while shooting a documentary digital video of their experience. A prestigious language institute and the University of Cádiz in Southern Spain have partnered with iD Tech Camps to provide a one-of-a-kind learning experience this summer. Imagine living with a Spanish family, eating Spanish food, and touring ancient cities including Sevilla and Puerto de Santa Maria. Each weekday morning students will attend Spanish language class from 10 am - 1:30 pm. In the afternoon, after eating lunch with a Spanish family and taking a traditional siesta (optional), students will learn to storyboard, film, and edit their very own documentary film of their Spanish experience. Living and learning the Spanish culture outside of Spanish and Filmmaking class is a key element of the program so there will be a series of planned cultural and social activities. Participants will capture footage of Spanish culture (incorporating some of the newly acquired (or improved) Spanish language skills). Through the eyes of a videographer, students will get to know people, the city, and the culture of Cádiz. All students will progress at their own editing pace and there will be a maximum of 10 students per instructor. Those without previous experience using editing software will quickly be brought up to speed. The curriculum in this course has been specially designed to take full advantage of the new environment to which the students are being introduced. For instance, we’re going to get out and see the city, filming all over town- beaches, cathedrals, cobblestone streets, ancient buildings, etc. We’ll take full advantage of filming locals from Cádiz, the families of the students, the students at the Institute, etc.
OTHER SUMMER PROGRAMS iD Tech Camps ALSO offers weeklong, day & overnight camps for ages 7-17 at over 40 universities nationwide. Campers produce digital movies, create 2D and 3D video games, model 3D characters, design websites, learn programming & robotics, and more. Learn the latest technology with instructors who make learning fun. One computer per student and an average of six students per instructor. Campers take home a project at the end of the weeklong course. Microsoft, Apple, Adobe, Canon, Photoflex and others have partnered with iD Tech Camps to raise the bar in technology education.
